BECKY’S AMERICAN CHOP SUEY

Ingredients

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 large yellow onions, chopped

6 large cloves garlic, chopped

2 ½-3-pounds 80/20 ground beef

1 tablespoon salt

2 teaspoons black pepper

2 teaspoons granulated garlic powder

3, 14.5-ounce cans Italian style stewed tomatoes

1-pound elbow pasta

Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet. Saute onions and garlic until soft. Add ground beef and cook over medium high heat, breaking up burger and stirring until meat is almost completely cooked through. Add stewed tomatoes and let simmer on high breaking up tomatoes and stirring every few minutes, about 10 minutes.

While sauce is simmering, cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and return to pasta pot. Add the sauce and toss well to coat.

This is a classic old recipe that my grandmother, Becky, used to make.  Comfort food to the max!  Some people call it ‘goulash’, ‘American goulash’, or ‘Slumgullian’ and every grandmother has her own twist!
