10 cups peeled and sliced apples (½” wedges)
½ cup flour
1 cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons lemon juice
¼ cup apple cider
1 cup quick oats
1 cup flour
¾ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 stick + 3 tablespoons cold butter cut into small pieces
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Prepare a 9” x 13” baking dish with non-stick spray.
Combine all of the apple ingredients in a large bowl and toss apples to coat well. Place the coated apples in the baking dish, scraping out any of the leftover sauce.
Combine the topping ingredients in the same bowl and, using your fingers, massage the butter chunks into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Spread the topping over the apples and bake for 50 minutes – 1 hour until browned, bubbly and the apples are very tender when pierced with a fork.
Let cool for 10 minutes and serve topped with vanilla ice cream. Go back for seconds…
