½ cup vegetable shortening
½ cup peanut butter
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoonp. milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ¾ cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
approximately 50 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped in advance
Cream shortening, peanut butter, and sugars. Add egg, vanilla, and milk and mix well.
In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Mix thoroughly.
Preheat oven to 375°. Form dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 10-12 minutes, just until cookies begin to brown. Remove from oven. Place one Kiss firmly in the center of each cookie. Remove to wire rack and let cool completely. If these cookies will be packaged on top of each other, chill in refrigerator or freezer first to assure that chocolate kiss is firm and will not collapse.
