BLACKBERRY PIE SQUARES

Ingredients
The Crust and Crumble:
1 ⅔ cup flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
¾ cup butter, softened to room temperature
½ cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla
The Filling:
3 cups blackberries
1 egg, beaten
¼ cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
½ cup sugar
½ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons flour
1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a small baking dish (8” x 10” or 9” x 9”) with parchment paper with 3-4” of paper ‘flaps’ hanging over the edges of the dish.
Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder in a small bowl and whisk to combine. Place it in the bowl of a stand mixer and add the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla. Mix until just combined.
Place about ⅔ of the dough in the prepared baking dish and press it into an even layer over the bottom of the dish. If the dough is a little sticky, wet your fingers with some cold water before pressing and it won’t stick.
Combine all of the filling ingredients in a large bowl and mix just to combine. Pour the filling into the dish and spread it evenly over the dough.
Crumble the remaining dough over the top of the filling in medium to large chunks.
Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Let cool completely so the filling can set. Dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares. Delicious at room temp or warmed with vanilla ice cream on top!!
